Happy Easter

Have a lovely Easter everyone!

(I love when rabbits row me around the lake in an eggshell. It’s so fun.)

Ada happened to find the stash of Easter candy in my closet (why don’t I ever learn my lesson and put it up high? I’ll tell you why; lifting my arms above my head is just so hard.)  She asked her dad if I was the Easter Bunny.  He told her that I was, but that Easter Bunnies and candy aren’t the real reason for Easter; Jesus is.

“Yeah,” she replied, “just like Halloween.”

I believe she is getting the idea that all candy-centric holidays are somehow related to Jesus. I don’t know if that’s a good thing or not.

  1. I don't think it's a bad thing. After all if I was conditioned to think of Jesus every time I ate candy, I would think of him several extra times a day!

The only reason I put candy up high is to ensure I get most of the extras.

  2. Every time I put lollies up high they end up falling on my head or into my eye. A bit hard to hide them from the kiddos if you're saying "OW!"

My boys give thanks to Jesus and God for all sorts of good food (lollies) and stuff (electricity to recharge their DS') so I figure it all works out in the end!

  3. I'll bet you also love it when Mister get's your head in a hammer-lock so he can daintily kiss your cheek (while you're sitting in an eggshell on a lake, being rowed around by a rabbit).

  4. Upon taking a closer look, I notice the rabbit is tapping mister on the back, saying, "Enough with the hammerlocks and mush stuff! Your turn to row!"

  5. I did Easter for our FHE lesson on MOnday (hey, better late than never) and was happy to get the kids from "why do we have Easter?" "For candy!" to them actually knowing about Jesus and the ressurection. They still were convinced that the Easter bunny must have gotten a new body too, but at least we're on the right track.
